Solljus är viktigt för oss människor, vi får i oss D-vitamin och risken för benskörhet minskar. Men för mycket sol ger skador på huden och kan till och med leda till hudcancer. När solens strålar når vår hud produceras mer melanin i överhudens pigmentceller. Melaninet skyddar oss mot de skadliga UV-strålarna. Det är också melaninet som gör oss brunare. För mycket sol kan leda till att melaninet i vår hud inte räcker till och strålarna tränger ner förbi det yttre hudlagret.
